The applications of metal powders have been for over hundreds of years. Recently, with the rapid development of science and technology, metal powders are widely operated in Additive Manufacturing. Metal powders can be used from the most normal applications such as oxygen getters in food packaging to the most advanced applications such as gas turbine discs production.
Additive manufacturing also called 3D printing is one of the industrial processes which deposits materials layer by layer to create objects by using 3D scanners or computer aided design.
Additive manufacturing is different from traditional manufacturing. In order to make finished products, traditional manufacturing requires to remove surplus or unwanted material by machining or other techniques. On the contrary, additive manufacturing allows a part to be constructed layer-by-layer.
This method uses less material than traditional manufacturing methods and enables to produce complex objects, shapes and textures with different metal powders.
So, additive manufacturing and 3D printing are relatively cutting-edge technologies and are helping customers with cost savings, flexibility and efficiency improvement.
