Cobalt-based alloys are materials that are mostly based on cobalt with other elements such as chromium, nickel, tungsten and iron to form alloys. Cobalt-based alloys display excellent high-temperature strength, oxidation resistance, wear resistance and corrosion resistance. Therefore, this group can be used in challenging environments, such as gas-turbine vanes used for high-temperature applications.
Haynes 188 (Alloy 188)
Haynes 188 is a cobalt-nickel-chromium-tungsten alloy with excellent high-temperature strength, sulfidation resistance and oxidation resistance. Due to minute additions of lanthanum, it modifies the protective oxide scale. This oxide scale becomes extremely tough and protective when exposed to high temperatures. Alloy 188 is widely used in aviation, aerospace, petroleum, chemical industry, medical and other fields, such as jet engine components, turbine blades, high-temperature springs, etc.
L-605
L-605 is a cobalt-based alloy with good sulfidation resistance and excellent high-temperature properties. It can resist oxidation, carbonization and cracking in high-temperature and high-strength environments. L-605 is widely used in aerospace, chemical industry, medical, petroleum and other fields.
